About Me

I am PriYa Nirit Chen, an established artist and the founder of Neoclassical Pop Art. My work begins with the Old Masters and ends in colour.

By hand, long before AI

For decades I have made digital art by hand, brush by brush, in licensed Photoshop, long before generative AI existed. I created my first Digital Pop Art works in New York, on the Upper East Side, a step from the Metropolitan Museum. Every Neoclassical Pop Art design is new art, made by hand, and each one names the master work it pays homage to.

Where my work has been shown

My first solo exhibition, curated by my mentor Prof. Jacob Mishori, was held at the Jerusalem Artist House. I then showed as his guest artist at the Tel Aviv Artist House and exhibited at the Artist House in Helsinki. In Antwerp I held studio, permanent and group exhibitions in the 17th-century house of the Flemish Baroque painter Jacob Jordaens. In Paris I worked at La Villa des Arts. In New York, in 2004, I exhibited with the French fashion house Celine at the Whitney Museum in “Madison Avenue – Fashion Meets Art”, joined the group exhibition “Physics of Spirituality” at Westwood Gallery, and was accepted for representation by Salander-O'Reilly Galleries.

A dialogue with the masters

Working among the masters in Antwerp, Paris and New York taught me their craft at close range. Neoclassical Pop Art is my dialogue with them. Each work carries the “Neoclassical Pop Art” signature, which stands for us both: the master and me. As Leonardo said, “Where the spirit does not work with the hand there is no art.”
