Titled 'La Femme,' the Neoclassical Pop Art artwork takes its cue from Sandro Botticelli's landmark painting "The Birth of Venus," created c. 1485 and now currently located at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy.

Behind it lies the Greek myth of Kronos and Uranus. In return, Venus, the Goddess of Love and beauty, rises as a fully formed mature woman from the foam of a cresting wave and is carried on a shell drifting to shore in Cyprus.
In Botticelli's telling, the mythological Greek gods of the winds blow Venus to the shore.
Venus is often linked to the model Simonetta Vespucci, celebrated across Florence as the very figure of feminine beauty.
Botticelli's devotion to feminine beauty, style, appeal and divine glam, seen most vividly in Venus' hairstyle, has inspired generations of Pop Culture artists, among them Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons, Lady Gaga and Beyonce.
Botticelli presents Venus as an icon of love and inner beauty, a wellspring for spiritual development drawn from Plato's philosophy, which holds that contemplating beauty draws the mind into a meditative state of harmony and love.
