Product Description

An island afternoon, burning red. The Neoclassical Pop Art take turns the Tahitian scene red, a new oil with Post-Impressionist roots. A Tahitian woman offers fruit in a hot, generous oil for a sunlit room.

“Passion Fruit, Tahiti” is a new Neoclassical Pop Art oil, a tribute to Paul Gauguin's “Eü Haere Ia Oe” or “Woman Holding a Fruit”, painted in 1893 and held at the Hermitage Museum. In burning red, the island afternoon turns hot and generous.

Rejecting the rules of traditional Impressionism style, Gauguin exiled himself on a tropical island of Tahiti, dreaming the rarest of all artistic achievement, creating his unique style. For that reason, he also abandoned his family life, “People tell me I’m not Rembrandt, Michelangelo, Puvis de Chavannes – but I already know that! Why tell me?” Gauguin Coming from a European background and a Parisian lifestyle, Tahiti was a dream come true for Gauguin who explored in his artwork the extraordinary exotic islander's rituals, mystery, simplicity, and natural harmony found in primitive life.

The artwork created during the first two years he spent in Tahiti Maori title translates as “Where are you going?”. And his across cultures painting features a Tahitian girl with fruit in her hand - representing the Eve of Eastern Paradise.

The Neoclassical Pop Art artwork breaks apart the passionate dream of Gauguin into a passel and pieces of that reality.

Tropical heat, serious pedigree.
