Product Description
"Pause Goya Pose" is a Neoclassical Pop Art artwork after the Spanish painter Francisco Goya's painting โThe Black Duchess,โ created c1797, currently located at the Hispanic Society of America, New York.
Marรญa Cayetana de Silva, 13th Duchess of Alba, is the subject of this Romanticism style painting, made during the eight months Goya stayed on her estate in Spain from 1796 to 1797.
In the original painting, the 35 Years Old Duchess is wearing a black dress of a Maja, mourning the death of her husband a year earlier.
Although Goya was fifty, deaf, married, and still not fully recovered from an illness, some speculate they may have had a romance because her right index finger points the ground where the words solo Goya (only Goya) written on the sand, and her rings inscribed Alba and Goya
Of great personal importance to Goya, the painting stayed in his studio long after her death.
Colorful and playful, the Neoclassical Version speaks in colors of hope and love.
An original artwork to collect. Created by the Neoclassical Pop Art studio, it is an original contemporary painting. A collectible statement piece where the Old Masters meet pop culture, made for true art lovers.
