Product Description
A woodland palette for an acrobatic figure. The woodland colours belong to the Neoclassical Pop Art version, a separate new artwork drawn from the same Baroque study. Brown and green suit lake weekends, camping trips and bathrooms full of wood and plants.
With “Just Hanging, After Rubens” in brown and green, Neoclassical Pop Art reworks “A Figure Man Dropping from a Wall”, a 16th-century drawing by Sir Peter Paul Rubens held at the British Museum. The woodland palette makes the athletic figure an outdoor companion.
Rubens’s original drawing is after a figure in Raphael’s fresco, the ‘Fire in the Borgo’, in the Stanza dell’ Incendio in the Vatican. The Neoclassical pop art artwork is after both - a collectible art that speaks of itself and within itself.
Earthy colour, athletic subject.
