For the animal lover you love: a Wild Life Elephant towel inspired by Rembrandt's sketch “An Elephant,” created 1637 and currently at the British Museum. Neoclassical Pop Art created the green and purple image on this towel as a new original, a Pop reinterpretation in homage to the Baroque drawing.
The Dutch master's study stands as the earliest document of the Asian elephant species, Elephas maximus. As the Natural History Museum in London reported: “Rembrandt’s paintings and sketches are the original and correct portrayal of the type specimen of an Asian elephant.”
We named the Neoclassical Pop Art print “My First Elephant” in memory of Hansken, this incredible 17th-century animal performer. Able to sword fight, wave a flag and put a hat on her head, she was luckily documented by the greatest Master of her time, Rembrandt.
