In his drawings, Rubens defines the Anatomical muscles of scalped body parts studied from casts, a technique Leonardo da Vinci also practiced. Yet unlike da Vinci, who focused his anatomical study on scientific anatomical accuracy, Rubens created dynamic compositions, as the unusual angle of this drawing demonstrates.
