In his drawings, Rubens defines the Anatomical muscles of the scalped body parts he studied from casts, a technique practiced by Leonardo da Vinci. However, unlike da Vinci that focused his anatomical study on scientific anatomical accuracy, Rubens created dynamic compositions, as demonstrated in this drawing unusual angle.
