Product Description

Titled "Charles V Dog", the Neoclassical Pop Art artwork inspired by Titian’s “Portrait of Charles V” created 1500-1558, currently at the Royal Collection, in Alcazar of Madrid, Buen Retiro Palace, and Royal Palace.

The portrait features Karl V, Holy Roman Emperor with a hunting dog.

It is a copy or reinterpretation of a portrait of Karl painted in 1532 by Jakob Seisenegger. That portrait was natural but had not pleased Karl and during Titian's stay in Bologna in 1533, he paid Titian 500 ducats to paint a new version of it. This new version is similar to its predecessor but completely transforms its composition. It later inspired Goya's 1799 Karl IV in his Hunting Clothes.

This Neoclassical Pop Art is a limited edition of 10
