Product Description
Sunflowers on holiday. That holiday colour is a Neoclassical Pop Art rewrite of a Paris still life, new art laid over a famous bouquet. Pink and turquoise make the still life look tropical; spread it by the pool and the flowers bloom all afternoon.
Neoclassical Pop Art's “Parisian Sunflowers” is a resort-colour homage to “Four Cut Sunflowers” by Vincent van Gogh (1887, the Kröller-Müller Museum, Otterlo). The bouquet keeps its shape and loses its gloom.
The unusual composition of a few cut sunflowers gone to seed is one of the highpoints of Van Gogh Parisian period.
Resort colour, museum subject.
